Chris Lakey was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on September 17, 1978. His parents moved to Oxford, Alabama when he was five years old. Chris attended the Oxford City School System. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1996. While in high school, he maintained a part-time job at the local grocery establishment. After high school, Coach Lakey attended Gadsden State Community College. Once the basic college courses were completed, he transferred to Jacksonville State University. While at Jacksonville, he earned the following degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in secondary education, a Master of Science in Education degree and an Educational Specialist degree in educational administration. At Jacksonville, he also met his wife Shannon. He was a fraternity member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Coach Lakey has worked in the public education system for the last nine years. He is certified to teach physical education and social studies classes. Chris and Shannon also have a new baby girl. Her name is Riley Kathryn. She was born on March 31, 2009. Some of the hobbies that he enjoys are listening to music (any kind), camping, spending time with the family, and rooting for any Nascar driver that drives for Hendrick Motorsports. War Eagle!
