Shannon Lakey always knew that she wanted to be a member of an outstanding profession such as teaching. She comes from a family of teachers. She set out on her journey to accomplish this life long dream at Jacksonville State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in secondary education/social science degree. While at JSU, she met her husband Chris. She was very fortunate to start achieving her dream with a job offer as a tenth grade history teacher at Hayden High School. She gladly accepted. She taught several years and felt like her role in the classroom was an entertainer on stage who acted out scenes from the past to help her students be successful both inside and outside the classroom. While teaching, Shannon earned a Master of Science in Education degree and an Educational Specialist degree in school leadership and administration from Jacksonville State University. Then, the day came when she was offered and accepted a job as an assistant principal at Hayden Middle School. During this time, she and her husband welcomed the birth of their first born, Riley. Shannon enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Shannon believes she is blessed to have such a remarkable family and be a part of an amazing school. She thought her dream of becoming a teacher had been accomplished, but she now realizes that the dream is only getting started.
